Schunk’s new LEG760 gripper is a flexible packaging solution for many handling, case packing and palletising jobs that offers both force and position controlled movements via servo-electric motors.
High accuracy and repeatability is assured via ball screws and the modular drive concept allows for the integration of virtually any make of motor.
This means that the robot integrator can operate the LEG gripper with his own motors thereby allowing both the robot and gripper can be controlled with the same command sets.
The LEG 760 is a long stroke gripper designed to combine light weight and flexibility in a modular gripper that weighs just 9.5 kgs and achieves a gripping force of 1,140N over a variable stroke of zero to 568mm when operated with a servo motor.
The modular design is available with supporting side cheeks in various sizes.
The connecting elements are also available in different widths, depending on the drive, and by varying the guide rails and slides the gripper can easily be adapted to a wide range of different tasks and loads.
In addition, the LEG can be equipped wit both pneumatic and electric drives.
The LEG also incorporates a standard robot interface according to ISO 9409 which is available in sizes 100, 125, 160 and 200.
Users can select from an asynchronous version requiring two motors or a synchronous version with one motor.
Specific models are offered with integrated ABB, Fanuc, Bosch and Kuka motors, or alternatively there is a universal version for use with other motors.
Options include a finger change system that enables the fully automatic replacement of the gripper fingers, bellows for system protection, sensors and feed-through to the base jaws for operation of other elements such as additional grippers or vacuum cups etc.
The entire system can thus be adapted with maximum flexibility to the respective task.
Designers of packaging equipment, robot integrators and line builders, along with end users looking to improve existing process capability, can now confidently select a gripper specially designed for the task.
Romheld Automation distributes Schunk grippers and automation equipment throughout Australia and New Zealand.
