New twist for torque tester

  • Published: 01/05/2008

The Mecmesin Vortex is capable of assessing both clockwise and anticlockwise properties of a range of packaging closures up to 10N.m.

With its top-loading capability to apply set loads during torque testing, the Vortex is particularly suitable for child-resistant closure testing.

The Mecmesin Vortex has a twin-column structure enabling precise readings to be taken.

The twin rods supporting the torque sensor have been reengineering to be located directly over the central axis of the motor shaft, thus reducing distortion of measuring results and allowing the system to operate more smoothly.

With the use of versatile upper and lower mounting tables, this system can accommodate a variety of sample shapes and sizes up to a maximum height of 350mm.

The Mecmesin Vortex range of motorised torque testing systems from SI Instruments includes specialised systems for measuring torques of screw closures.

They are capable of accurately and consistently testing application and release torque up to 10N.m (90lbf.in) capacity.

The Mecmesin Vortex range enables a constant and repeatable test speed to be set with a speed range of 0.5 to 15 rpm —eliminating the variability associated with manually operated testers.

This range is also able to store and transmit data for further analysis, if required.

The Mecmesin Vortex has been given a sleek new modular design with an extended range of torque cell capacities available, from a very light 0.3Nm up to a mid range 10Nm torque capacity.

Users can now build their own system tailored perfectly to their testing application.
