LyondellBasell Industries has become the first polyolefins supplier worldwide to establish a global business team exclusively dedicated to addressing the specialised needs of healthcare applications.
The new organisation, which includes global business management, global technical services, and regional sales teams located in the Americas, Europe, AFMEI and Asia Pacific, is fully operational.
Global asset footprint, local supply Most leading medical and pharmaceutical companies have production sites throughout the world, and require material consistency from locally-sourced materials within regional markets.
Following the merger of Basell and Lyondell, the new company has strategically-located supply facilities that target uniformity of specifications, no matter where customers are located.
“In the past, we have always supplied our European-produced resins on a global basis,” says Jochen Schneider, Head of LyondellBasell’s Healthcare Applications business unit.
“Now, our expanded global asset footprint enables us to produce LyondellBasell’s high-quality Purell resins in the regions where it fits best for our customers.
"With production locations in the major regions of the world, we are able to effectively address customer needs, and at the same time reduce emissions and environmental impact by utilising shorter transportation routes for shipments.”
The new team builds upon the success of LyondellBasell’s portfolio of Purell polyethylene and polypropylene resins that feature characteristics such as consistent formulation, long-term supply, customised logistics and pharmacopoeia compliance certificates.
Regulatory changes addressed Customers in the healthcare industry will also benefit from LyondellBasell’s knowledgeable local sales and technical service teams dedicated to medical and pharmaceutical applications.
“Our new Global Key Account management team is equipped to address the specific needs of this highly sensitive industry,” explains Dr. Michael Luetke, Global Marketing Manager of LyondellBasell’s Healthcare Applications business unit.
”With more than 30 years of experience in healthcare applications, our team is highly skilled in technical as well as regulatory aspects.”
The new business team interacts directly with Manufacturing, Regulatory Affairs, and Product Safety and Quality Control activities to ensure that any changes made to regulatory requirements can be implemented as quickly as possible.
