Detmold Flexibles has confirmed its position as a serious third alternative on the Australian flexible packaging industry landscape, by taking out this years “Best in Show” prize at the annual Australian Flexo Technical Association Awards.
Amongst a field of 75 entries over 7 categories, submitted by companies from across Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia, Detmolds entry was selected by the judges to receive the coveted “E. Doug Moore Best in Show” award at a Gala dinner at Melbourne’s Hilton Hotel.
Judging Panel Chairperson Robert James said the judges decision was unanimous, indicating the entry was “an outstanding print with excellent print register”.
The same entry also took out a Gold medal in the Mid Web Reverse print Halftone category.
The win reinforces Detmolds current expansion plans and the significant investment & commitment in local printing capacity, at a time when many others in the industry are looking offshore.
In a recent interview Detmold Flexibles CEO, John Morriss says the company's view is that if it is an excellent supplier in all forms of supply chain management, nimble & responsive to the needs of marketers and has capability, then it will be an attractive alternative supply source.
Clearly the commitment to local excellence is paying dividends.
Morriss is said to be delighted with the award, but confirms the Detmold team will not become complacent.
On the same evening Detmold also managed to score a Bronze in the Mid Web Surface Print Halftone category, a Silver in the Mid Web Reverse Print Halftone and Gold in the Mid Web Surface Print Halftone category — a total of 5 awards in all.
